A lot of people out there would really like to get into making hiphop music, but the hardware and stuff is too expensive. Well I’ve run across a great software program that’s  inexpensive.

Starting your beat;

1. I tend to start off with the kick drum, to get the basic beat down. Then add in the hats, snares and claps to get a solid 8 bar pattern.

2. Next is the bass line, just to get started I find a bass beat that flows with my beat, this is easily tweaked later to give more structure to your song.

3. Once the beat and base line are in place I start to think about my ‘flavour’, something that makes the track stand out. It is usually something that’s already in the track but is extended to give life and originality to the song.

4. Now you have the beat pattern its time to add in the orchestration. Again here you will want to think about your flavour, and get something that gives your song something extra.

5. Next copy the 8 bar, baseline and other elements to make it a 16 bar, you can drop the orchestration on the first 8 bars so it only plays on the 2nd 8 bars.

6. Then copy the first 8 bar drum pattern to the third 8 bar and this will be the start of your chorus. Here you need to think about changing the base line, and change up the snare and claps.
